 What is GDLN?
The Global Development Learning Network (GDLN) is an alliance among public, private and non-governmental organizations, comprising a community for sharing knowledge, with the purpose of serving the developing world.

GDLN in the Region

The Latin America and the Caribbean Region of the Global Network is made up of a group of Distance Learning Centers (DLCs) established in a variety of organizations, including universities, public training institutes, international agencies and private companies. They all have telecommunications infrastructure and experience in the distance training area. In many countries, there are national networks that are joining the Global Network, making GDLN a “Network of Networks”.

Since it was launched in June 2000, the Global Network has grown remarkably. Today, it includes over 50 Distance Learning Centers around the world and hundreds of content providers, from various types of organizations, including the GDLN Centers themselves. Distance programs are classified into: Global Dialogues, Seminars and Short Courses. They are geared toward development catalysts, members of the public and private sectors and civil society, as well as academic institutions, whose work influences national development in their countries. Global Network programs use a “blended approach”, combining locally-facilitated email sessions, materials, on-line discussions or modules and exchanges among countries by video conference.
