| A key component
of the Network is that it defines work by sectors, in order to achieve an impact
on their development. These sectors have been identified as top priority areas
for the Latin America and the Caribbean Region.
Identifying Needs
Working
by sectors includes identifying the needs that GDLN can respond to, through knowledge
and learning programs. The needs identification process has taken into account
the analysis prepared by content experts, using such instruments as - World
Bank Country Assistance Strategies
- World Bank Regional Needs by Sector
- Needs
studies prepared by national governmental institutions
- Feedback from multilateral
development agencies
- Demand expressed by communities for knowledge at
the local level
Definition of Sectors Through the needs
identification process, a regional strategy has been defined to respond to top-priority
sectors. This definition has established a work program for the Network, focusing
on six key sectors: - Agriculture
- International Trade
- Education
- Small
and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
- Health
- Information and Communication
Technology (ITC)
- Private Sector and Business Development
Responding
to Needs
To respond to identified needs, each sector has developed
a work program, to provide learning activities and share knowledge in response
to the needs expressed. Programs deliver World Bank knowledge and that of outside
partners from key institutions and organizations, to the Latin American community. To
learn more about the strategy within each sector, visit our page on Work
by Sectors.
