Global Dialogue on Wireless Broadband Access in the Americas

April 24, 2005 – Washington, DC. USTTI and CITEL – with translation
and technical support from the World Bank's Global Development Learning
Network (GDLN) – will conduct a live, interactive videoconference on
wireless broadband technology on April 25, 2005 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm EST.

The videoconference will link into CITEL's PCC.II meeting in Guatemala City, thereby attracting hundreds of representatives from OAS member states who will be in Guatemala City attending the CITEL meetings. Communications officials from Bolivia, Costa Rica, and Panama will also participate in the videoconference via the World Bank GDLN sites in those countries.

USTTI presenters will include Mr. Peter Pitsch from the Intel Corporation, Frank Chisesi from Lucent Technologies, Hector Marin from QUALCOMM Incorporated, David Furth from the FCC’s Wireless Bureau, and former FCC Wireless Bureau Chief John Muleta. In addition to presentations by USTTI speakers on the exciting applications and necessary regulatory environment for wireless broadband deployment throughout the Americas, this
videoconference will provide a venue for a lively Q&A session with officials from the OAS region.
