March
2, 2004 - La Paz, Bolivia.- GDLN Bolivia launched
its national network this month by connecting sites
in Cochabamba, La Paz, and Santa Cruz for an interactive
global dialogue. This national network was made possible
through the local partnerships the GDLN National Coordinating
Center - Servicio
Nacional de Administración de Personal's Centro
de Capacitación y Aprendizaje a Distancia
(C-CAD) - developed with national universities.
These partnerships are not only based on matching technological
infrastructure which makes the national network possible,
but most importantly on a shared commitment to knowledge
sharing in development related issues.
One of the unique characteristics of GDLN in the Latin
America and the Caribbean region is the extensive outreach
and the impact that programs can have by way of national
coverage through domestic networks. This concept of
a "network of networks" has been developed
by the Centers of the region themselves who have formed
partnerships which allow the GDLN distance learning
activities to be received in an interactive manner by
the main Center in the country and be disseminated on
a national level. This "network of networks"
makes capacity-building and learning activities available
to those in need.
Bolivia's national network is a growing network which
will soon count with the participation of the city of
Sucre and additional national points. Bolivia's national
network highlights that by bringing together technology
with a commitment to development, knowledge and learning
can be made truly accessible to national actors.
